“Isidor – via ferrata” on the Grünstein

Grünstein mountain Schoenau am Koenigssee Klettersteig fixed-rope route

There are 4 different via ferratas on the Grünstein in Schoenau am Koenigssee.

The lightest, and therefore the one for pleasure climbers, is the “Isidor – Steig”. The climb is named after Isidor Grassl from Schönau, who laid out secured routes on the Grünstein as early as the 1950s. The path is not consistently steep, but repeatedly goes through steep wall areas. In between there are simple grassy sections, which promise grandiose views of the Koenigssee.

The ascent to the via ferrata starts right next to the bobsled run at Königssee and leads uphill through the forest.

Although the “Isidor – Steig” is the easiest, the difficulty rating reaches up to level “B / C”.
