The tourist tax is primarily levied by the Zweckverband Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the tourist facilities in the Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden. The operation of the tourist facilities is thus decisively supported by the revenue from the tourist tax. This includes, above all, the predominantly free bus travel (only a few exceptions) in the region with the guest card, which is now possible as far as Munich with the RVO route network.
The current general price development now requires a new adjustment of the levy in order to maintain the current standard of the tourist offer and also to be able to expand it, according to the Zweckverband Bergerlebnis Berchtesgaden.
